Press Release 000915

Calerga announces a new version of SysQuake together with the first release
of SysQuake LE, a free, slightly limited version of SysQuake available
for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows. Through innovative use of interactive
graphics, SysQuake reveals insights into complex scientific systems.

Lausanne, Switzerland, September 15, 2000 - Calerga announces today:

- SysQuake 1.3 for Macintosh and Windows computers, the latest version of the
application which helps understanding mathematics, physics and engineering and
enables designing easily high-performance technical systems. SysQuake 1.3 is a
free upgrade for licensees of SysQuake 1.0-1.2.

SysQuake 1.3 adds several important new features: high-quality numerical
functions based on LAPACK, the de-facto standard for linear algebra computation;
communication via serial ports; the possibility for the user to add his/her own
commands and functions written in C; an improved scientific language; an improved
user interface; improved applications; and numerous other additions and bug fixes
which make SysQuake even more efficient and pleasant to use and to develop for
than ever. SysQuake 1.3 is by far the most important upgrade since the initial
release of SysQuake 1.0 one year ago.

- SysQuake LE 1.3, a free version of SysQuake 1.3.

With its ability to let the user get a much deeper understanding of problems than
with any other software, SysQuake has a tremendous value in education. In order
to put it into the hands of students and teachers, Calerga makes SysQuake LE 1.3
available as a free download on the World Wide Web. With respect to SysQuake,
SysQuake LE limits access to files, does not support extensions, and has not the
same level of technical support from Calerga; however, except for these
restrictions, SysQuake LE is 100 % compatible with SysQuake and can load its
application files as well as those developed by the user.

With the availability of SysQuake LE, SysQuake Viewer, the free auxiliary
application used for the distribution of interactive graphics on the Web, has no
raison d'etre anymore and is discontinued. With SysQuake LE, teachers can
illustrate scientific problems with dynamic figures on their online lectures for
free.

- SysQuake LE 1.3 for Mac OS X, a development release ("beta version") of
SysQuake LE 1.3 for the future operating system of Macintosh.

Calerga is proud to announce that it will support Mac OS X as soon as it will be
released. In the meantime, with the imminent availability of a beta version of
Mac OS X, SysQuake LE 1.3 makes Mac OS X more useable in the scientific and
engineering world for early adopters.

About SysQuake

SysQuake is a ground-breaking application for understanding and designing complex
systems by the use of interactive graphics. Interactivity lets the user
manipulate graphics, observe how phenomena are related, and change parameters to
improve the design of a technical device. Understanding how initial conditions
affect a simulation or how the parameters of a feedback controller determine the
behavior of a dynamic system is made much easier than with the static graphics
created by existing software.

SysQuake's powerful, yet easy-to-program computer language opens it to any kind
of application; SysQuake handles the user interface itself, letting the developer
concentrate on the specifics of his or her problem. It is shipped with
applications in the fields of automatic control, analog and digital filters,
model identification, physics, and finance. SysQuake is not only useful for
research and development--its ability to help really understand the system beyond
the graphics makes it the ideal tool for teaching.

SysQuake 1.3 (for Mac OS 8-9 and Windows 95/98/NT) and SysQuake LE 1.3 (for Mac
OS 8-9, Mac OS X and Windows 95/98/NT) are available immediately. For more
information or for downloading SysQuake LE, please visit the Calerga site at
