Press Release 061012
Calerga announces the release of a version of Sysquake
for Linux and the update of its whole line of software.
Through innovative use of interactive graphics, Sysquake
gives insights into complex scientific problems.
Lausanne, Switzerland, 12 October 2006 - Calerga announces
the release of Sysquake 3.5, an important update of its main
scientific software. The two major new features are Linux
support and extensive communication capabilities with other
applications.
Linux support
Sysquake runs now on GNU/Linux x86 computers, in addition to
Windows and Mac OS X. Linux becomes more and more popular,
especially in universities and engineering schools where
Sysquake is used for teaching and research. Therefore this
new version fulfills an important need.
Communication with other applications
Sysquake has always had the capability to communicate with
the outside, be it with the direct support of devices or
TCP/IP network, or with the help of additional commands
developed in C or C++ by the user. In version 3.5, a new
mechanism lets external applications connect to Sysquake to
exchange data. Sysquake acts now as a server. The communication
protocols which have been selected, OLE Automation on Windows
and XML-RPC on Mac OS X and Linux, are available in many
development environments. For Java developers, a package
provides a unified interface.
Other improvements
Other important improvements include increased flexibility in
the graphical user interface for figure placement and
hierarchical menus, accelerated programming language with new
native functions (such as native quaternion support which
simplifies the modeling of some mechanical systems), and new
interpolation functions.
Other Calerga products are also updated to profit from these
enhancements. All Mac OS X applications now support directly
PowerPC and Intel Mac computers.
About Sysquake
Sysquake is a scientific software application based on a
powerful programming language aimed at numerical computation.
Running on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, it provides interactive
graphics which help understanding and solving complicated
problems in mathematics, physics and engineering. It enables
the rapid design of high-performance technical systems.
Sysquake applications range from research (data analysis,
insight into complicated problems, new design methods),
development, and teaching, to powerful user interfaces
(laboratory equipment, robots).
Sysquake belongs to a family of software solutions which
answer different needs: Sysquake Remote for Web applications,
Sysquake Embedded for fast prototyping of embedded control
systems, and LyME which brings some of the power of Sysquake
to Palm OS handheld devices.
