Press Release 071130
Calerga announces the release of Sysquake 4, a major update
of its main software, as well as a Sysquake-based addition
for the LaTeX typesetting system. Through innovative use
of interactive graphics, Sysquake gives insights into complex
scientific problems.
Lausanne, Switzerland, 30 November 2007 - Calerga announces
the release of Sysquake 4, a major update of its main
scientific software. Sysquake 4 extends greatly the set of
commands for 2D and 3D graphics while preserving their
efficiency, their ease of use and their support for user
interaction. For the publication of high-quality scientific
documents, Calerga announces Sysquake for LaTeX which
provides seamless integration of computation results and
graphics into LaTeX.
Sysquake 4
Sysquake is a scientific software application based on a
powerful programming language aimed at numerical computation.
Running on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, it provides
interactive graphics which help understanding and solving
complicated problems in mathematics, physics and engineering.
It enables the rapid design of high-performance technical
systems.
Sysquake 4 brings three major improvements:
- Graphics: new commands add new kinds of graphics, and in
particular 3D graphics. Support for interactive graphics has
been extended to 3D, so that the direct manipulation of
graphics by the user remains as simple to implement as
always.
- Styled text: while the source code of Sysquake programs is
stored in plain text files, extensive support for styled text
(including hypertext links) has been added. Sysquake
applications can generate reports the user is able to save to
a choice of formats, including RTF and LaTeX.
- Programming language: anonymous functions simplify greatly
the use of functions as a data type. The sandbox, a secure
environment where untrusted code is executed, has been
extended to cover libraries from untrusted sources such as
the Web.
Sysquake applications range from research (data analysis,
insight into complicated problems, new design methods),
development, and teaching, to powerful user interfaces
(laboratory equipment, robots).
Sysquake for LaTeX
Sysquake for LaTeX is a LaTeX package based on Sysquake.
LaTeX is the de facto standard for high-quality scientific
publications, from internal memos to articles and books. One
of the most cumbersome and least automatized tasks is the
inclusion of figures. Typically, it involves at least two
separate applications, and manual adjustments to obtain the
desired size and text font. Sysquake for LaTeX provides an
elegant solution: keeping unchanged the habits of the LaTeX
author, it makes the power of Sysquake available directly
from a few simple LaTeX commands.
Sysquake for LaTeX is a free download at www.calerga.com.
