Press Release 990804
Calerga announces SysQuake, intuitive and powerful software for understanding
mathematics, physics, and engineering systems from new perspectives, and a
free viewer.
Lausanne, Switzerland, August 4, 1999 - Calerga announces today SysQuake 1.0,
software for understanding and designing dynamic systems in an interactive,
intuitive way. Understanding how systems work, how to improve their performances,
and what their limits are is made easier by the use of graphics. SysQuake goes
one huge step further by allowing the user to manipulate the graphics
interactively. The effects of changing a parameter, dragging a point or pulling
some part of a diagram are immediately revealed by the update of the graphics.
For example, what will be the evolution of the population during the next
decades? A widespread way to represent a population is to draw a pyramid which
shows the number of men and women as a function of their age. Simulation software
permits to predict the evolution of the population, but fails in representing it
in a clear way. With SysQuake, just drag a slice of the pyramid upward, and the
whole pyramid reshapes as the population gets older and new generations are born.
Automatic control is another area where SysQuake shows its power. Stability and
performance of a controlled system are often evaluated in different graphics.
By revealing how they relate to each other, SysQuake is a very efficient tool
to help to design efficient controllers.
SysQuake is based on a powerful, yet easy-to-program computer language which
opens it to any kind of applications. It is provided with applications in the
fields of automatic control, analog and digital filters, model identification,
physics, and finance. SysQuake is very useful in research and development. Its
capability to make really understand the system beyond the graphics makes it the
ideal tool for teaching.
Since the experience of manipulating graphics gives a much better idea of what
SysQuake really is than any description, Calerga offers demonstration versions of
SysQuake, available immediately for PowerMacintosh and Windows on the World Wide
Web at http://www.calerga.com. SysQuake will be available in mid-summer 1999.
Price: CHF 3,000 excl. VAT (CHF 1,000 excl. VAT to education institutions);
prices for multiple and site licenses on request.
In addition to SysQuake application, Calerga announces SysQuake Viewer 1.0, a
free application based on SysQuake which permits to view and manipulate graphics
made for SysQuake and processed by a third application, SysQuake Signer. SysQuake
Signer is intended to professors, teachers, book and scientific article authors
who want to provide cost-effective interactive graphics to their readers. SysQuake
Viewer will be available at the same time as SysQuake. A pre-release version is
available immediately, as well as SQ files in different fields.
