It represents a part of the root locus of a system of order 6 whose coefficients are contained in an ellipsoid. The controller, also of order 6, is chosen for esthetics reasons. The shades of gray correspond to different sizes of ellipsoids. The root locus has been created with the command erlocus of Sysquake.
